Job Title: Staff Nurse

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Summary

  • The Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients across various departments for our hospital.
  • This role involves assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes and high-quality nursing care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • The Nurse will play a vital role in promoting health education and supporting patients and their families.
  • This candidate will also provide specialized care to patients with kidney-related health issues.
  • The Nephrology Nurse will play a crucial role in educating patients about their conditions and promoting kidney health.

 

Main Duties

Patient Care Management:

  • Perform initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' conditions.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as per physician orders.
  • Monitor vital signs and laboratory results related to renal function.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding patients.
  • Coordinate with other healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care.

 

Patient Education:

  • Provide education on health management, disease prevention, and wellness strategies.
  • Assist patients in understanding their treatment plans and medications.
  • Develop educational materials for patients on various health topics

 

Dialysis Support:

  • Prepare patients for dialysis sessions, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Monitor patients during dialysis for any adverse reactions or complications.

 

Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards set by healthcare regulations.

 

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with nephrologists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers.

 

Emergency Response:

  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies following established protocols.
  • Assist in resuscitation efforts when necessary.

 

Infection Control:

  • Implement infection control measures to prevent the spread of infections within the facility.
  • Educate patients on hygiene practices and infection prevention.

 

Quality Improvement:

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care standards.
  • Collect data for performance improvement projects related to nursing practices.

 

Team Leadership:

  • Mentor junior nursing staff and nursing students during clinical rotations.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss policies, procedures, and best practices.

 

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Basic Nursing education (RN/RM) required; certification in nephrology nursing preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience; experience in nephrology or dialysis preferred.
  • Licensure: Current RN license.
  • Skills: Strong assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, proficiency in electronic health records (EHR).
