Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) was established in 1998 as a non-governmental Organization to serve as a collective voice of PLHIV in the Country. The Organization is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria in September 2004.
NEPWHAN is now Seventeen (17) Years Old as a vibrant patient community network in Nigeria. The network formed since 1998 has established structures at the zonal and all States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and as well saddled with the responsibility of coordinating, supervising and monitoring activities and programs of over 1, 030 support groups membership across the Federation making it one of the biggest Patient network in Africa. Our GOALNEPWHAN has formed constituent bodies; Association of Youth Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (APYIN), Association of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), Association of Religious Leaders Living with and Personally Affected by HIV/AIDS (NINERELA+) to advocate and provide HIV programming intervention for the specific needs of their targets and members.
NEPWHAN is the recognized national umbrella body coordinating the activities of support groups of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in Nigeria. NEPWHAN is committed to protecting the rights of PLHIV, improving their quality of life, and ensuring meaningful engagement in national health responses. We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: State Program Coordinator
Location: Ekiti
Employment Type: Full-Time (Fixed-Term, Renewable based on Performance & Funding)
Reports To: Zonal Program Manager / National Program Officer

Position Summary
- The State Program Coordinator (SPC) will serve as NEPWHAN’s primary liaison in Ekiti State, overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and coordination of all state-level programmatic activities.
- The role is a mix of strategy execution, community engagement, stakeholder management, and real-time problem solving.
- The SPC will ensure that NEPWHAN’s interventions deliver results for communities, align with donor expectations, and foster inclusive, community-led development.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Coordination:
- Lead the execution of all NEPWHAN projects within Ekiti State, ensuring timely, quality, and cost-effective implementation.
- Coordinate activities with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), support groups, and partners across the HIV response ecosystem.
- Develop and maintain a work plan in alignment with national and donor strategies.
- Facilitate the scale-up of Community-Led Monitoring (CLM), rights-based advocacy, and HIV care and treatment interventions.
Stakeholder and Partnership Management:
- Serve as NEPWHAN’s representative at state-level technical and strategic forums.
- Build and sustain strategic relationships with SACA, SASCP, healthcare facilities, CSOs, development partners, and community networks.
- Provide technical and programmatic support to CBOs, ensuring compliance with NEPWHAN’s Code of Conduct, programmatic guidelines, and donor requirements.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Ensure robust data collection, analysis, and reporting in line with MEL frameworks.
- Monitor program performance against KPIs and flag implementation bottlenecks with solutions.
- Provide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the national office and funders.
Team Leadership and Capacity Building:
- Provide oversight, mentorship, and supervision to CBO staff and volunteers.
- Conduct periodic training and supportive supervision to strengthen local capacity.
- Promote a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, innovation, and impact.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies, donor regulations, and ethical standards.
- Track and mitigate risks, including safeguarding concerns, program misalignment, or reputational risks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in program coordination, community development, or public health, preferably in the HIV/AIDS or human rights space.
- Proven experience working with marginalized populations, especially PLHIV-led networks.
- Solid understanding of the health governance landscape in Ekiti State and Nigeria.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong reporting, budgeting, and project management capabilities.
- Ability to lead with integrity, resilience, and a result-oriented mindset.
