Job Description

How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

  • EGPAF currently supports a suite of pediatric and adolescent-focused HIV programs in Nigeria, primarily through technical assistance modalities. These programs include one effort focused on optimizing pediatric and adolescent HIV service delivery, and two efforts focused on optimizing pediatric and adolescent treatment through the provision of second- and third-line ART and a research study related to pediatric and adolescent second and third line ART.
  • We are seeking a qualified, highly resourceful and dynamic Technical Officer to accelerate progress toward the attainment of program goals in the country.
  • The primary function of this role (approximately 70%) is to ensure smooth implementation of EGPAF’s role in pediatric and adolescent HIV service delivery through the ‘Breakthrough’ project.
  • Additionally, the Technical officer will provide support to the New Horizons projects (approximately 15%).
  • Finally, this position will work with the program manager Nigeria to provide support to EGPAF’s new business development efforts in the country. (Approximately 15%)
  • This position will work very closely with facility-based health workers, State Ministries of Health, State Primary Health Care Development Board, Community based organizations, national and international partners and representatives from other normative agencies.

Responsibilities

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect as a Technical Officer?

  • Provide technical assistance at supported HIV treatment facilities to achieve epidemic control by reaching the UNAIDS’ 95-95-95 goal in children and adolescents living with HIV
  • Support scale up of evidenced based strategies in accordance with the UNICEF service delivery framework in supported states and health facilities
  • Perform quality of care assessment and ensure that children and adolescents living with HIV (CALHIV) in all supported health facilities receive high quality comprehensive ART services in accordance with National Treatment guidelines.
  • Support uptake of differentiated models of care and treatment for CALHIV in order to improve treatment outcomes and create efficiencies, including multi-month drug refills, use of community structures, etc.
  • Represent EGPAF at relevant state –level fora, scientific and technical meetings.
  • Provide support to the New Horizons project, as needed, which may include facility-based technical assistance and capacity building of health workers.
  • Generate routine program reports as required (monthly, quarterly etc.)
  • Provision of capacity building, hands-on mentoring and technical support to ensure breakthrough interventions at the state and facility level are implemented according to agreed work plans
  • Ensure that site and patient level data including clinical, laboratory and community data are collected and documented into appropriate registers
  • Develop, maintain and routinely update a dashboard of program data.
  • Routine monitoring and evaluation of programs
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To be successful, you will have:

  • Medical Degree (MBBS, MBChB) from a recognized institution.
  • 3 - 4 years of experience supporting HIV programs in Nigeria.
  • Registered medical practitioner with a current practice license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Extensive understanding of the HIV epidemic and response in Nigeria, including up-to-date knowledge of guidelines and metrics; knowledge of global and national HIV treatment guidance and standards.
  • Skills in leadership and mentoring, written and verbal communication, high levels of responsibility and integrity, analytical thinking and data interpretation, and problem-solving and creativity.

Bonus points if you have:

Experience in pediatric ART service delivery.
