10. MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST/TECHNOLOGIST/SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

Medical Laboratory Scientist

• Demonstrators in Medical Microbiology, Haematology, Histopathology, Chemical Pathology.
• Positions:
  • Senior Medical Laboratory Scientists on CONHESS 9: BMLS or AIMLS from a recognized university, registered with MLSCN, and current practicing license.
  • Principal Medical Laboratory Scientists on CONHESS 11: (In addition to qualifications in (a) above, candidates must possess a minimum of three (3) years cognate working experience, MSc in MLS will be an added advantage.
  • Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist on CONHESS 12: (In addition to qualifications in (a) above, candidates must possess a minimum of six (6) years cognate working experience, MSc in MLS will be an added advantage.
  • Assistant Director Medical Laboratory Services on CONHESS 13: (In addition to qualifications in (a) above, candidates must possess a minimum of nine (9) years cognate working experience, MSc in MLS will be an added advantage.
  • Deputy Director Medical Laboratory Services on CONHESS 14: (In addition to qualifications in (a) above, candidates must possess a minimum of thirteen (13) years cognate working experience, MSc in MLS will be an added advantage.
  • Director Medical Laboratory Services on CONHESS 15: (In addition to qualifications in (a) above, candidates must possess a minimum of fifteen (15+) years cognate working experience, MSc in MLS will be an added advantage.

Science Laboratory Technologist

• BSc/HND in Science Laboratory Technology with specializations in any of the following: Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, Physics with Electronics, Chemistry, and Microbiology.
• Technologist: A graduate with BSc Anatomy needed as a technologist in the Human Anatomy Department.

B. QUALIFICATIONS

Professor

• Candidates should possess a Ph.D. degree (or a Fellowship of either the National or West African College) in the appropriate discipline applied for, with at least ten (10) years teaching and research experience in a University, and at least two (2) years as an Associate Professor. Candidates must possess scholarly publications in both local and international journals as proof of specialization in core areas of departmental fields of study. Candidates must also have sufficient administrative experience.

Associate Professor

• As in (i) above, but with eight (8) years teaching and research experience in a University, and at least two (2) years as a Senior Lecturer. Candidates must also have sufficient administrative experience.

Senior Lecturer

• As in (i) above, but with five (5) years teaching and research experience in a University, with at least two (2) years as a Lecturer I. Candidates must also have sufficient administrative experience.

Lecturer I

• As in (i) above, but with three (3) years teaching and research experience in a University, with at least two (2) years as a Lecturer II.

Lecturer II

• As in (i) above, but with three (3) years teaching and research experience in a University, with at least two (2) years as an Assistant Lecturer.

Assistant Lecturer

• Candidates should possess an M.Sc. Degree in the field of application with proof of completion of National Youth Service or its equivalent and proof of registration into a Ph.D. programme. Computer literacy and ability to teach using Multimedia technology is mandatory.
