Job Title:  Wellness Coordinator (Nurse)


Location: S.H.E Wellness Center Lagos Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Short-term

Team Purpose

  • The SHE Centre will serve as a ‘one stop shop’ transformative initiative creating a safe space for vulnerable AGYW. All SHE enrollees will receive health and wellness services at inception and throughout their program at the Centre.
  • It is anticipated that the Wellness Centre will contribute to the AGYW remaining resilient, empowered, healthy and safe throughout their youth and adolescent phases of life by providing cross cutting wellness services including SRH, health education and counselling, screening and referrals as described below.

Job Purpose

  • A Registered Nurse with mental health/pediatric/adolescent/SRH training and certifications, the Wellness Coordinator (Nurse) will have a wealth of experience to skillfully bridge the gap between the HIV program, OVC care, GBV services and mental health support.
  • The incumbent will support and coordinate the day to day running of the health-related services at the SHE Centre, ensuring due screening of new enrollees to the SHE centre and provision of first aid support services as required.
  • The job holder will support the implementation of prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) prong 1 and 2 services for vulnerable adolescent girls and young women in Lagos, Nigeria.
  • This role will provide clinical leadership, ensuring adherence to national guidelines, and monitoring the quality of care in the provision of HIV testing, treatment and prevention services at the hub.
  • They will support interventions for SRH for AYP.
  • The incumbent will monitor and evaluate project activities, ensuring timely goals and objectives are met. They will work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure project success.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Provide medical and technical expertise and training support to the SHE centre
  • Support the provision of first aid for the hub visitors, staff and enrollees
  • Coordinate the daily activities of the Wellness centre
  • Incorporate wellness, mental health and fitness activities into the daily activities and routines of the hub
  • Ensure close collaboration and coordination with stakeholders/partners to ensure smooth implementation of activities and achievement of results
  • Support the documentation of project best practices, success stories and preparation of necessary materials, tools, and other resources needed to collect data for formation of knowledge management products.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse RN or A Registered Midwife RM with pediatric/ adolescent/SRH/Mental health certifications and experience an added plus.
  • An advanced public health degree will be an added plus
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ post-NYSC experience in developing country health care programs or program support functions.
  • Experience working in Lagos state and familiarity with critical stakeholders
  • Computer Literacy in Microsoft office applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with competences in public speaking, stakeholder engagement and resource allocation.
  • Ability to communicate in the local language and good knowledge of the terrain would be an advantage.
