Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State on Wednesday said he was working with his Abia State counterpart, Mr Okezie Ikpeazu, in tracing contacts of the 25 new coronavirus patients who were intercepted in the state.
The COVID-19 patients who are northerners were intercepted in Owerri on their way to Abia State.
Uzodinma, who spoke to our correspondent through his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, said the state had activated all channels of communication with the Abia State Government.
He said that Abia State Government and Imo saw reason to work together in tracing contacts of the 26 index cases.
He said, “We have established contacts with the Abia State Government in regards to contact tracing. The two states are working together. The people of the state should not panic. All channels of communication have been established.
“The Imo COVID-19 committee is also revealing its strategies in regards to this and border closure. The people of the state should cooperate with security agents in securing our borders. The governor is committed to ensuring that the state is safe for the people of the state.”
