Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria Vacancy for Resdiency Training Programs for 2018/2019

 

Applications are invited from interested and suitably qualified candidates for admission into list Residency training Programmes in Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hosptial Zaria beginnng from 2018/2019 academic Session. 

 

This courser is four years in duration with two years grace, making a total of six (6) years in all Specialties while Neuro-Surgery & OrtortlinolaryngOlogy are Seven years. 

 

The Residency Training Programs lead to award of the fellowship of National Postgraduate Medical College and/or West African Postgraduate Medical College to those who are successtul in the followmg specialties. 

 

A) Anaesthesia 

B) ChemicalPathology 

C) Community Medicine (Public Health) 

D) Family Medione 

E) Haematology 

F) Medical Microbiology 

G) Maxilla facialSurgery 

H) Orthopedic Surgery 

I) OphthaLmologY 

j) Obstetrics and Gynaecology 

K) Paediatrics 

L) Pathology

M) internal Medicine

N) Psychiatry 

O) Surgery 

P) Radiology 

Q) Radiotherapy and Oncology. 

 

Only medical docotrs who have fully registered with the Nigeria Medical and Dental Council and have completed the one year NYSC or are exempted are eligible to apply. This advert includes honorary/ supernumeray residents. 

 

Training Prograrnmes:These involve

A) Courses in bask medical sciences leading to the primary Fellowship examinainon where applicable. (It is expected that candidates must have passed this stage of examination before applying). 

B) Intensive Clinical Course, leading to the Part I examination in the releveant specialty for a period of 24 months. 

C) Final Phase: This involves continuing clinical experience and research work in candidates chosen field of interest. This phase also last for 24 months

 

The final Fellowship examination follows at the end of the 4th year of training and successful candidates will then be eligible to apply for apponitment as consultants in any hospital of their choice. 

 

ABUTH is not bound to retain the trainee alter successful training. During the training period appointments of trainees will not be confirmrd and trainnes will not be allowed to pursue any other course or training leading to qualification other than the fellowship. Only those who maintain good academic performance will be allowed to proceed to higher stages of the program within the stipulated mood
