SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO EACH OF THE AVAILABLE PROGRAMMES.

A. SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH.

1. WEST AFRICA HEALTH EXAMINATIONS BOARD NATIONAL DIPLOMA (WAHEB ND) IN ENVRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME.

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS.

Candidate must possess 

At least five (5) Credit passes in WAEC, GCE, SSCE, NECO O’ Level  subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at  not more than two sittings from one source. 

 

2. WEST AFRICA HEALTH EXAMINATIONS BOARD HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (WAHEB HND) IN ENVRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME.

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS.

Candidate must possess 

West Africa Health Examinations Board National Diploma (WAHEB ND) in Environmental Health Technology plus  at least five (5) Credit passes in WAEC, GCE, SSCE, NECO O’ Level  subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at  not more than two sittings from one source.

 

3. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIANS IN TRAINING (EVT DIPLOMA) COURSE.

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS. 

a. Candidates must  possess at least three (3) Credit Passes in WAEC, GCE, SSCE, NECO O’ Level subjects which must include  English, Biology or Health Science, Chemistry or Physics and one additional Science Subject (Nutrition, Agricultural Science, Geography and Technical Drawing) in not more than two sittings from one source. Pass in Mathematics is compulsory.

b. EHA certificate with at least two (2) years post qualification cognate experience in addition to 3 (a) above shall be qualified for direct entry admission to 200 level. 

4. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ASSISTANTS IN –TRAINING (EHA CERTIFICATE) PROGRAMME.

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS

candidates must possess at least four (4) passes in WASC, GCE, SSCE, and NECO O’ Level subjects which must include English, Biology/Health Science, and any two of the following subjects: Nutrition, Physics and Chemistry.

5. DIPLOMA IN FOOD HYGIENE (DFH) PROGRAMME

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess City and Guide Certificate or NABTEB Certificate in Catering and Hotel Management with at least four (4) credit passes in WASC, GCE, SSCE, NECO  O’ Level English Language, Biology or Health Science, and any other two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

 

6. CERTIFICATE IN FOOD HYGIENE (CFH) PROGRAMME

Duration: 2 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess at least four (4) credit passes in WASC, GCE, SSCE, NECO O’ Level English Language, Biology or Health Science, and any other two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

7. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PROGRAMME

Duration: 3 SEMESTERS

Candidate must possess theWest Africa Health Examinations Board National Diploma (WAHEB HND) or its equivalent in Environmental Health Technology OR its equivalent qualification plus  at least five (5) Credit passes in WAEC, GCE, SSCE, NECO O’ Level  subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at  not more than two sittings from one source.

 

8. NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (DOHS)

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

At least five (5) Credit passes in SSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB O’ Level subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE.

 

9. WEST AFRICA HEALTH EXAMINATIONS DIPLOMA IN HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMME. 

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS.

Candidate must possess at least five (5) Credit passes in WAEC, GCE, SSCE, NECO O’ Level  subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at  not more than two sittings from one source. 

 

B. SCHOOL OF COMMUNITY HEALTH

1. COMMUNITY HEALTH EXTENSION WORKERS IN-TRAINING (CHEW DIPLOMA ) PROGRAMME

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

(a) At least five (5) credit passes in WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO O’ Level subjects in not more than two sittings which must include: 

Biology or Health Science, Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Mathematics.

(2) Junior Community Health Extension Workers Certificate (JCHEW Certificate) with two (2) years post qualification experience in addition to the above stated O’ Level requirements.

 

2. JUNIOR COMMUNITY HEALTH EXTENSION WORKER S IN TRAINING (JCHEW CERTIFICATE) PROGRAMME

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS. 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

(a)  Passes in four (4) WAEC, GCE, SSCE, NECO O’ Level subjects including English and Biology/Health Science plus two other subjects.

(b) Pass in Mathematics will be an added advantage.

(c) Serving Worker (e.g. Ward orderlies, Ward maids and Dispensary attendants) in Health facilities with nomination and support of his/her Local Government Establishment with passes in four subjects as in  2 (a) above.

 

3. HUMAN NUTRITION AND DIETETICS (HUND) DIPLOMA PROGRAMME.

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS.

Candidate must possess at least 5 credit passes in WASC, GCE, SSCE, NECO, and NABTEB O’ Level subjects at not more than two sittings in English Language, Biology, Chemistry Mathematics and Physics. A pass in Food /Nutrition will be an added advantage.

 

NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) IN COMMUNITY OPTHALMIC TECHNICIANS (COT)

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

At least five (5) Credit passes in SSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB O’ Level subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE.

 

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN HIV/AIDS CONTROL MANAGEMENT (HIV)

Duration: 1 SEMESTER

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

i. Health Worker (JCHEW, CHEW, Environmental Health Technologist/Assistant/Nurses, Health Records Technician e.t.c with two (2) years post qualification experience in addition to the above, At least five (5) Credit passes in SSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB O’ Level subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE.

ii. Graduates in Health related field

 

SCHOOL OF PHARMACY AND DENTAL HEALTH

A. PHARMACY TECHNICIANS IN-TRAINING PROGRAMME (PHT CERTIFICATE) COURSE

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

At least 5 credit passes in WAEC, GCE, SSCE, and NECO O’ Level subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics at not more than two sittings from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE.

 

SCHOOL OF BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES AND REMEDIAL STUDIES, HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT, COMPUTER STUDIES AND MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE

 

A. DIPLOMA IN HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (HIM) PROGRAMME

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

At least 5 credit passes in WAEC, SSCE, GCE, & NECO O’ Level subjects at not more than two sittings from one source, and which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science and any other Science among Chemistry/ Physics, Agricultural Science and a Social Science subject that can be selected among Geography, Economics and Government.

 

B. CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT (HIMA) PROGRAMME

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

**(Note: THERE IS NOADMISSION FOR HIMA IN 2013/2014 ACADEMIC SESSION)**

 

C. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANS IN TRAINING (MLT CERTIFICATE ) PROGRAMME

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

At least 5 credit passes in SSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB O’ Level subjects at not more than 2 sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Any result that is more than 5years from the next academic session is not acceptable by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).

 

D. BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERS IN-TRAINING PROGRAMME (BME)

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

At least 5 credit passes in WAEC, SSCE, GCE, & NECO O’ Level subjects and which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE

 

E. DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN COMPUTER SCIENCE (CSD)

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

At least 5 credit passes in WAEC, SSCE, GCE, & NECO O’ Level subjects and which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE. A pass in Chemistry may be considered.

 

F. CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN COMPUTER SCIENCE (CSC)

Duration: 2 SEMESTERS

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

At least three (3) credit passes in SSCE, GCE, & NECO O’ Level subjects and which must include a credit pass in either English Language or Mathematics at not more than two sittings from one source from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE.

 

SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING

A. WAHEB HND IN PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING (PHN) PROGRAMME

Duration 4 SEMESTERS

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

i. Dual Qualifications registerable by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria i.e.

ii. National Diploma in Nursing or its equivalent

iii. RN Certificate (Registered Nurse Certificate)

iv. RM Certificate

v. RPHN Certificate

With five (5) credit passes in WAEC/NECO O’ Level including English Language and one Science subject

vi. Plus one year post qualification experience.

 

B. X-RAY TECHNICIANS IN-TRAINING (X-RT CERTIFICATE) PROGRAMME

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS 

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

i. At least 5 credit passes in SSCE, GCE, NECO O’ Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science, Chemistry, and Physics obtained at not more than two (2) sittings from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE.

ii. X-Ray Assistant Certificate plus O’ Level requirement in B(i) above will be admitted to 200 Level.

**(Note: THERE IS NOADMISSION FOR X-RAY IN 2013/2014 ACADEMIC SESSION)**

 

C. HEALTH TECHNICIANS DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (HT)

Duration: 6 SEMESTERS

Candidate must possess the following requirements:

iii. Health Assistant (Medical) Certificate or equivalent with at least four (4) Credit Passes in SSCE, GCE, NECO O’ Level subjects which must include English, Biology or Health Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Agricultural Science in not more than two sittings from one source i.e. NECO and NECO, SSCE and SSCE.

i. Health Assistants Certificate (HAM Certificate) with 2 years post qualification cognate experience in addition to C(i) above shall be qualified for direct entry admission to 200 level.

 

D. HEALTH ASSISTANTS IN TRAINING (MEDICAL OPTION) (HAM) CERTIFICATE COURSE

Duration: 4 SEMESTERS

candidate must possess At least four (4) passes in WASC, GCE, SSCE, and NECO O’ Level subjects which must include English, Biology/Health Science, and any two of the following subjects: Nutrition, Physics and Chemistry.
