Coventry University is seeking a Professor of Biosensor and Bioinstrumentation in the Centre for Intelligent Healthcare. The Centre aims to become a globally recognised research centre for pioneering and opinion-setting research in the area of digital healthcare and its contribution to improving communities and enriching and prolonging individual lives.
 
The Centre is home to a vibrant programme of work across our three core themes: Epidemiology and Evidenced Based Healthcare, Prototype Design and Testing and also Behavioural and Implementation Science. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, academic leadership and management of research in the development of innovative biosensors and bioinstrumentation to diagnose and monitor chronic diseases as well as producing technologies which have an impact on Healthcare and related subjects within the Centre for intelligent Healthcare. He/she will develop a nationally and internationally recognized research into the areas of biosensors and bioinstrumentation development, utilizing recent advances in biochemistry, electronics, omics (genomics, epigenetics, proteomics), and physiology to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic devices. This post will be centred around the design and development of macro- and nano-scale devices that utilize biological components for the detection and accurate measurement of biomarkers. Research may include development, testing, and application of nano-materials, organic electronics, electronic tattoo sensors, and autonomous/intelligent sensor systems.
 
In addition, the post holder will develop the academic and commercial potential within the Centre for Intelligent Healthcare to ensure this continues to reflect the leadership of Interdisciplinary Research whilst delivering excellence with impact in line with our Corporate Strategy.
