The Federal Government has said it was proposing the deployment of serving doctors to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the federation.
The idea was to bridge the huge personnel gap existing in all PHCs and health departments in local government areas across the country.
This decision was contained in a statement made available by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Saadu Salahu, yesterday.
The statement said the agency had begun talk with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to explore the posting of medical doctors on NYSC to local health departments and primary health care facilities at the grassroots level.
This decision, it said, was part of the discussion between the two Federal Government institutions during a courtesy call on the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Nnamdi Okorie-Affia, by the Executive Director of NPHCDA, Dr. Ado Muhammad.
