The theme of IDM 2016 is 'Women and Newborns: The Heart of Midwifery'. Midwives around the world work hard every day to ensure women and newborns receive the quality care that they deserve.
We are happy to share the International Day of the Midwife 2016 Resource Pack and artwork with you to help you plan your day of celebration.
Let’s use this important day to share the essential services midwives provide - we must ensure every woman and every newborn has timely access to the best possible care before, during and after pregnancy and child birth.
IDM 2016 Activity: I Am A Midwife, This Is What I Do
This IDM we are inviting midwives to share the work they do using the “I am a midwife, this is what I do” activity on social media as a celebration of midwifery around the world.
We would like you to send us a photo which can be active, fun and interesting, and a few words about what you do - make sure you include #IDM2016 when posting your photos.
ICM's Liliane Ingabire shares her work as a great example of what we are looking for:
"I am Liliane Ingabire, Rwandese by nationality and I am a midwife working with ICM as a Technical Midwife Advisor. I am also an educator and very passionate about strengthening the midwifery profession #IDM2016"
You could send a photo of yourself, or of a fellow midwife, holding a newborn or caring for a pregnant woman. Be as creative as you can!
