The Nigerian Thoracic Society (NTS) is pleased to announce the 2015 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference (AGMSC), to be held on the 12 and 13th November 2015 at the Ibom hall in the beautiful city of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The theme for this conference is Household Air Pollution and Lung Health.
The sub-themes are:
1. Biomass Smoke and Lung Diseases; Airway Diseases, Lung Malignancies.
2. Environmental Tobacco Smoke and Lung Diseases.
3. Respiratory Infections and Household Air Pollution; Adults and Children.
A third of the world’s population is exposed to household air pollution and this constitutes a major risk factor of acute and chronic respiratory disease that is preventable. This scenario presents interesting challenges for the Nigerian respiratory disease practitioner. There will also be a Preconference Workshop and the update course will hold on 10 and 11 November 2015 in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.
The Preconference Workshop will include hands on training in diagnostic and interventional bronchoscopy, life support courses, critical care as well as thoracic ultrasound.
