Now, this may not be a cheery news for all Medical Doctors in Nigeria. Doctors had pitched against her Council over an ‘unexpected’ building Levy it fixed against them.
The Nigerian Medical Association National Executive Council have approved the building levy to be paid by all doctors in Nigeria. Of course, this is supported by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

The following were the resolutions of NMA National Executive Council on the Levy.
1.) NEC unanimously appreciated the NOC for efforts so far towards ensuring the land in question was not taken due to several years of delay in utilizing the property and several court cases involved.
2.) NEC also in unison agreed that NMA being 60years old deserves a building in an office area not residential area.
3.) NEC agreed that Doctors who are 10years and above pays 40,000 once and those less than 10years pays 20,000 once for the NMA building only.
4.) A special NMA building committee has been set up with proven financially prudent doctors as members.
5.) That the building levy money will not be within the conventional NMA national purse.
6.) That members of NMA have between now and 31st December 2019 to effect the payment of the NMA building levy.
The president of NMA,Dr Faduyile thanked NEC for the unanimous affirmation of the need for a befitting NMA building and promised that NOC will abide by the decisions of NEC.
