The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has sought speedy passage in the establishment of National Institute of Orthopaedic Research currently at the National Assembly, saying that if passed, it would enhance the productivity of orthopedic medical practitioners.
The president of the association, professor Mike Ogirima, who made this known on Thursday in Asaba at the 40th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference, expressed satisfaction that the bill was already receiving attention of the law makers at the House of Representatives and urged governments at all levels to improve the care of road traffic accident victims, as well as establish more trauma centres along major road networks in Nigeria.
“As an association, we also want our government at various levels to develop robust 24 hours emergency Ambulance coverage for our major highways. I encourage colleagues and members of the public to invest in this business of emergency ambulance services and trauma care in Nigeria with the name of the AGM.”
Meanwhile, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Delta State has insisted on Skill Acquisition training for a total of 2713 Batch ‘B’ Corps’ Members in this year 2017.
The State Coordinator, Mr. Benjamin Omotade, who made this known on Thursday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku, during the swearing in ceremony, said the call became necessary considering the increasing Labour Market and large scale of unemployment.
Noting that the state NYSC registered 2713 Corps’ Members in the 2017 Batch ‘B’, Omotade urged the corps members to eschew what would jeopardize their future career, especially they getting involved in unwholesome activities before the end of their mandatory one year service.
