Notice of 2014 Professional Examination for the Admission of Graduate animal Scientists into thenigerian insitute of Animanl Science

The Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) is a Professional and Industry Regulatory Agency established by Act No. 26 of 2007. Among its mandates are powers to prescribe and regulate the standards of academic qualifications and practical skills to be attained by persons seeking to be registered as Members, Associates or Fellows of the Institute as the case may be, and the regulation of all issues pertaining to Animal Husbandry in Nigeria. 

Notice is hereby given. that the 2014 Professional Examination for the Admission of Graduating Animal Science Students as GRADUATE ANIMAL SCIENTISTS (GAS) of the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) is scheduled to hold as follows: 

1:. REGISTRATION FOR THE EXAMINATION 

All candidates must complete the GAS Examination application form. 

2. DATES FOR THE EXAMINATION AND SUBMISSION OF COMPLETED REGISTRATION FORM 

DATES OF EXAMINATION  -   DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION OF COMPLETED FORMS TO NIAS     

1 APRil 5, 2014 - FEBRUARY 28, 2014    

2 JULY 5,2014 -  APRIL 30, 2014    

3 OCTOBER 18, 2014 -  AUGUST 15, 2014

1. EXAMINATION CENTRES 

The Centres for the Examination will be communicated in due course Please Note: 

The Council of the Institute at its 21th meeting, approved the following guidelines for implementation of the Graduate Animal Scientists Examination for graduates of Animal Science seeking registration into the Institute as Graduate Animal Scientists (GAS): 

i. Every Animal Science graduate from 2013 must take the Graduate Animal Scientist (GAS) Examination; 

ii. Every Graduate Animal Scientist must attend minimum of 3 years Mandatory Continuing Professional Education training in succession to be able to register as Registered" Animal Scientists or else take qualifying examination to be registered; 

iii Graduates of 2009 - 2012 who participated in the June 2013 GAS Examination and failed may not necessarily retake the GAS Examination as they were not supposed to write the examination in the first instance; 

iv. Candidates from 2013 that failed the GAS Examination should re-sit the examination; 

v. There is no restriction on the number of time the GAS examination could be taken by a candidate thatfailed; 

vi. Only candidates that passed the GAS examination will be inducted into the Institute as Graduate Animal Scientist by the Institute. This is in addition to the clearance by the University. 

vii. All completed registration forms should reach the Institute Secretariat (House 1, 45 Road, off 4ih Avenue. Gwarinpa II Estate,Abuja) on or before the dates stipulated for submission, or the forms will not be processed. 

vii. Hard copy of the list of candidates must accompay the registration forms when submitted by the head of Animal Science Dept., while the soft caopy should be sent to the following e-mail address: [email protected]
