With the renewed drive to deliver better and quality healthcare services to the people of kogi State, nurses and midwives association  of the federal medical centre in lokoja have demonstrated their commitment to enhance healthcare services at the medical institution.

 

The nurses at her maiden week long event to celebrate the profession warmly profess their passion for uptimum services delivary at the medical centre saying they’re already taking over the lead in the health sector in kogi State and would soon become the leading light of the national health services.

 

The event with the theme : NURSES A VOICE TO LEAD, HEALTH FOR ALL. was kickstarted with a rally within medical centre and culminated into special, colourful opening ceremony with top management of the hospital in attendance, Making accolades remark on the pivotal roles the nurses have been playing in the delivery of sound health services to the people of the state.

 

Making his remarks at celebration; the chairman of the association Comrade Abdulmalik Idris noted that the Nurses, in many ways constitutes the collective face of health care. Stating that the event is in recognition and celebration of Florence Nightingale’s birthday for her roles in the establishment and upliftment of the Nursing profession.

 

Speakers at the event unanimously called on the hospital management to lobby the federal government for employments of more nurses at the centre in order to consolidate on the achievements recorded by the profession in the hospital. Some of the Nurses decriedthe lack of commitment by the state government to the infrastructural deficit of the medical centre urging the state government to see the centre as part of her own facility to better the health needs of the citizens.
