Introduction

The Examiners workshop is organised biennially by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to update and equip its current and prospective examiners in the assessment of students in the classroom/clinical settings and in the conduct of Professional Examinations to meet with international best practices.

 

Aim

The aim of the workshop is to improve the skills of Examiners to effectively assess candidates during Schools/Councils Professional Examinations in order to produce competent Nurse/Midwife practitioners.

 

The target audience for this years workshop includes:

. Principals/Educators in Nursing and Midwifery Institutions

. Co-ordinators/Educators in Post-Basic Nursing Programmes

. Heads/Lecturers of Departments of Nursing Sciencies in Nigeria Universities

. Clinical Instructors, Preceptor and Clinicians Corporate/Non-Government Organizations and Agencies

. Desk Officers/Focal Persons (who are Nurses) responsible for indexing and Examinations in the Instituitions.

Wth Sub-Theme:

. Maintaining standards and objectivity in Councils Professional Examinations

. Effective application of Information Technology in Professional Examinations of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

 

Specific Objectives:

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

. Acquire knowledge about online portal of the Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria

. Utilise the knowledge of information and communication technology (ICT) for indexting and Examiners registration of students and candidates

. Demonstrate skills in constructing Objective and Essay Test items

. Accept, utilise and implement Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in Councils Professional Examinations

. Identify and proffer solutions to the new challenges in Professional Examination, Administration and Evaluation

. Conduct/Supervise Councils Professional Examinations effectively
