Nutrition Society of Nigeria Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference

Posted on: Tue 08-09-2015

All is now set for the hosting of the 45th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) tagged ‘Eko 2015’. Between the 15th and 19th of September 2015, nutrition professionals and relevant stakeholders will gather in Lagos State to brainstorm on the theme “NUTRITION OUTLOOK – BEYOND 2015 MDGs”.

The 3-day conference holding at Anchors Events Centre, Agidingbin -  Ikeja and Centre for Management Development (CMD), Magodo will feature technical and plenary sessions as well as an enriching Pre-Conference workshop, with an extensive discourse on “Grant Winning Proposal Writing”. An Annual General Meeting, exclusive to NSN members only, is scheduled to avail members the opportunity to discuss key issues affecting members and the Society.

Following the winding down of the deadline for the attainment of the Millenium Development Goals, there is a lot of growing concern about the future of nutrition. In Africa and in Nigeria, where there is still a wide margin to be covered, the time is ripe to chart a new course for nutrition, post MDGs.

Interesting sub-themes to be discussed at the Conference include:
MDGs, the journey so far
Nutrition Sustainable Development FGoals
Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (SUN)
Nutrition Policy and Structure in Nigeria
Nutrition Financing
Nutrition and Aging
Dietary Diversification
Food Enrichment and Supplementation
Challenges to early initiation of breastfeeding in Nigeria
Challenges to adequate complementary feeding in Nigeria.

The 45th Annual General Meeting and Scientific conference is not “all-work”; as participants will get to indulge in the beauty of the city’s tourist attractions, experience the warmth of her people and also savour the rich delicacy Lagos state has to offer.

Ekaabo!
