The Society of Oncology and Cancer Research of Nigeria and the American Society of Clinical Oncology will hold a Multidisciplinary Cancer Management Course in Lagos, in July.

 

According to a statement made available to our correspondent, the conference, which is scheduled to hold in July, is themed, Implementation of resource level: Appropriate breast and cervical cancer prevention, diagnostics and management.

 

Some of the resource persons for the conference are,  Benjamin Anderson, a Professor of Surgery and Global Health Medicine at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, Seattle, USA; Professor Cosette of the Departments of Pathology and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Centre, New Mexico, U.S.A.

 

According to the World Health Organisation, cancer is one of the top ten leading causes of death worldwide and the number of new cases keeps rising. The WHO estimates that 116,000 new cases of cancer and 41,000 cancer-related deaths occurred in Nigeria in 2018.
