Royal College of Physicians (RCP) /West African College of Physicians (WACP) training in hypertension, diabetes and obesity

The West African College of Physicians' (WACP's) mission is to improve the health of West Africans through excellence in the training of medical specialists and the provision of high-quality healthcare. 
The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) has developed a close and effective partnership with the WACP over past decade.
 
With support from Pfizer, the WACP and RCP are organising a clinical course in Abuja to increase patient access to physicians trained in the management of diabetes, hypertension and obesity, and to highlight the opportunities for implementing both primary and secondary prevention within their day-to-day clinical practice.
 
 
The course is open to doctors who have passes their Part 1 WACP (membership examination) in internal medicine, family medicine or paediatrics (ie senior registrars ), and can demonstrate the capacity to use theur training to impact on other trainees and patient care in their institutions.
 
With facilitators drawn from both the RCP and the WACP, this 5-day trining course will develop skills for effective training and supervision of trainees, in addition on clinical skills. A certificate of training endorsed by the RCP and the WACP will be given to qualified participants.

THe application process opens on 6 july 2015 and the closing date for applications is 27 July 2015. Note: limited partial funding (to support travel and accommodation) is available to support ten participants from outside Abuja and fice bursaries for international participants
