Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH), a Principal Recipient to the Global Fund Round-9 TB grant in Nigeria, is hereby seeking for qualified and experienced research assistants to conduct an operation research in selected ART sites that offers TB services. The successful candidates will collect secondary data on some specific TB/HIV indicators from study sites within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Benue state, for an approximate period of two weeks.
Reporting to: Survey Principal Investigator
Location of assignment: Benue state and FCT
The Specific tasks of the Research assistants are:
• Attend the central level training on the data collection methods
• Locate selected study sites in the respective states
• Collect data from facility patient registers using a data extraction tool designed for the study
• Record data legibly on the data extraction tool and transfer into excel template
• Ensure data entry of high quality and avoid reporting unreliable data
• Data entry of completed data extraction tools into appropriate qualitative software for analysis.
• Carry out any other duties as may be required by the consultant or ARFH team
Deliverables
• Completed data extraction tools from the study sites
• Completed data entry forms
• Completed Microsoft excel template which must be a replica of the paper-based form
• Fully completed retirement forms. All advances must be adequately retired using approved retirement forms
Skills required:
• Outstanding oral and written communications and editing skills, with proven ability to compile information coherently and succinctly;
• Ability to use SPSS, Epi Info or other software for data analysis.
• Previous experience in conducting quantitative research in Nigeria will be highly desired
• Ability to demonstrate excellent research and fact-checking skills;
• High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines;
• Cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
• English fluency and working knowledge of the local language will be advantage
• Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a social science discipline or related field especially demography, statistics, etc
• At least 3 years' experience working in the field of Public Health or International Development.
• Knowledge of computer programs with special reference to SPSS, Epi Info or any other software used in analysis of quantitative data as well as Microsoft word and excel.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the various area councils in FCT and/or Benue state
• Must be resident in FCT or Benue state.
• Demonstrable experience conducting and analysing quantitative field research.
Duration: 
• Duration of the study will be about 14 days.
• This includes the central level training and actual field work and data entry.
