SUMMER CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME, 2013

Preamble

Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) is the fastest growing private university in Africa and the PACE setter in reformatory education. As part of ABUAD's functional and reformatory agenda to develope human capacity for effective management of the Nigerian economy, ABUAD Consult is offering a range of certificate courses for the benefit of mid-career adults, Senior Officers and Officers in the Public and Private sector of the Economy as well as operatives in NGOs and CIvil Society Organisations. All courses are delivered at the university campus in Ado-Ekiti.

Duration of Programme

The 2013 Summer Certificate programme will hold for a period of two months (july 15 - September 13). The programme is delivered through an innovative mix of interactive classroom sessions on campus and project work off campus. The programme begins with one week of interactive session on ABUAD campus. This is followed by six weeks of off campus project research work. The programme is aimed concludes with a week of further interactions aimed at consolidating facilitation and assessment of project research work. In the languages and the social Justice courses, the classroom sessions on campus is continuos for the duration of the programme.

Delivery Mechanism

The summer programme is designed to develope the capacity of participants with the application of novel tools and technologies, featuring interactive sessions between facilitators and participants . Methodologies include in class lectures, role plays, syndicate/group discussions and presentations, case studies and field/reseach activities.

Accommodation

The University guest houses and syudent hostels are available to accommodate participants. Relevant information is available upon enquiry.

The 2013 Summer Certificate course Include:

. Certificate in Civil and Molecular Biology

Objective:

To develope the skills and knowledge of participants associated with emergent challenges in cell and molecular biology, with the latest tools and methodological approaches.

Course content:

. Microscopic techniques and live cell imaging

. Polymerase chain reaction

. Antibody engineering

. Colloidal chemistry and gold conjugation

. Immunhistochemistry and specific protein labelling

. Microtubule systems

Target participants:

Natural and Medical Scientists, Laboratory Technologists, and Researchers and post graduate Students.

Cost:

N180,000.00 (Covering cost of bags, writing materials, facilitation and certificate).
