The 8th WACP/RCP Call for Doctors as Educators workshop

 The West African College of Physicians, in Collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians of London is sending out a call to interested persons to apply to attend the next Doctors as Educators workshop in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Aims and Objectives

The 3 day workshop is designed to make Doctors to be more effective teachers, educators and supervisors/mentors.  At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:

·         Write clear educational objectives

·         Plan and structure teaching sessions

·         Identify peculiarities of adult learners

·         Adequately perform workplace based assessment

·         Utilise methods to make their presentations more effective

·         Select appropriate evaluation techniques

·         Effectively supervise and mentor their trainees

·         Maximise teaching and learning opportunities in a busy workplace

Participants

The ideal candidates are Medical Consultants (Fellows of the West African College of Physicians, National Post graduate Medical College of Nigeria or other  Colleges) and Senior Registrars who are involved in training of Medical Students and Resident Doctors.

Course details

·         The course will be held in Ibadan, Nigeria from the 8th to 10th October 2014.

·         Pre-registration for the course is required. Application form, which is below is to be completed and returned by e mail to Dr Temilola Akande at [email protected] and copy Dr Folasade Omokhodion at [email protected].

·         Deadline for application is 12 midnight on 26th of September 2014 (so that materials for participants can be prepared).

·         Certificates and 10  CME points would be awarded at the end of the workshop.

·         Course fee is sixty thousand naira only (N60,000.00) non-residential. Bank details would be sent to interested applicants after submission of completed application form.
