The UK Nursing and Midwifery Council has released the names of countries whose nurses are exempted from providing IELTS test result when seeking registration as Nurses in UK. Below is the list:
• Australia
• The Bahamas
• Barbados
• Belize
• Canada
• Dominica
• Grenada
• Guyana
• Jamaica
• New Zealand
• St Kitts and Nevis
• St Lucia
• St Vincent and the Grenadines
• Trinidad and Tobago
• The United States of America
In addition to the above, the following countries are considered to be majority English speaking:
• British Antarctic Territory (BAT)
• British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT)
• Falkland Islands
• Ireland
• Isle of Man
• Jersey
• Guernsey
• Gibraltar
• Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia on Cyprus
• United Kingdom
• US Virgin Islands
Nurses from Philippines and other countries who are registered in the above countries are also exempted but must meet below conditions:
You have completed an English language assessment or examination as part of your registration outside of the UK.
You have one year post registered practice in an English speaking setting
You will need to provide the following:
1. A letter of good standing from your licensing authority and
2. Details of the English language assessment that you undertook as part of your registration, and
3. supporting reference from your employer.
