The West African College of Nursing (WACN), is a formidable regional professional Nursing organization representing Nurses/Midwives in the West Afric. Sub-region. The College is a specialized agency of the West African Health Org.ization (WAH0). 
 
The objectives of the College are to promote excellence in nursing education and to maintain the standards of nursing practice within the sub-regional Community among others. 
 
The West African College of Nursing (WACN) offers nurses the opportunity to meet and share their knowledge while strengthening clinical skills and building the foundation for evidence based practice which is imperative for today's global healthcare. 
 
The West African College of Nursing presents a 4 day Mandatory Update and Scientific Conference

OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE
At the end of the conference, participants should be able to:
1. Identify current issues/ development including current trends in health care
2. Gaining understanding of environmental health, safety and global best practices
3. Acquire skills needed to provide eveidence base solution to nursing dilemma as regards nursing research and clinical practice.
4. Acquire relevant knowledge in technology to dliver cost effective care.
5. Acquire necessary skills in health planning and policy
6. Identify the role of the nurse in epidemiolgy, health assessment and clinical diagnoses
7. Identify the role/ importance of community participation in advanced nursing practice
8. Interact with fellow participants and share clinical experiences, trials and presentations towards acquisiton of new knowledge demonstration of skills learned at the conference and discussions that will enhance participants' clinical competency and decision making
