African Natural Resources and Mines Limited (ANRML), established by African Industries Group, operates a fully integrated iron ore mining and processing plant in Gujeni village, Kagarko LGA, Kaduna state—the first of its kind in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Chemist

Location: Kaduna

Employment Type: Full-time

 

Job Summary

To carry out chemical and physical analysis of raw materials, process intermediates, and finished pellets, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications required for efficient pellet plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine chemical analysis of iron ore, additives (lime, bentonite, coke breeze, etc.), and pellet samples.
  • Perform quality checks on raw materials, green pellets, indurated pellets, and finished products to ensure compliance with metallurgical and chemical specifications.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as spectrophotometers, XRF, AAS, titration setups, and moisture analyzers.
  • Monitor process parameters and provide timely feedback to operations for corrective actions to maintain product quality.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, record-keeping, and reporting of test results.
  • Support research, development, and process improvement initiatives for pellet quality enhancement.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and environmental standards while handling chemicals and laboratory equipment.
  • Calibrate and validate laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy of test results.
  • Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly QC reports for management and process teams.
  • Coordinate with production and process control teams for troubleshooting and resolving quality issues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: B.Sc / M.Sc Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related discipline.
  • Experience: 2–5 years in a mining, metallurgical, or pellet plant QC laboratory (fresh graduates with relevant internship/training may also be considered).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of chemical analysis techniques and quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with ISO/ASTM/IS standards relevant to iron ore and pellet analysis.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory instruments (XRF, AAS, titrators, etc.).
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Problem-solving ability with keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures in handling chemicals and laboratory work.
