Plateau State Government has disclosed that 22 people have died out of the 1,244 confirmed cholera cases in the state. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nimkong Lar, stated this yesterday on the telephone.
He noted that the state government was doing everything possible to stop the spread of the disease, stressing that anti-open defecation in the state causes the disease.
Government, according to him, is doing enough to provide solution to the disease in the state. According to him, the government is working assiduously to sensitise the people on the dangers of open defecation in the communities.
However, some residents said that they drink water from boreholes and wells, adding that most times they buy water from mobile vendors. They called on the government to come to their aid to get potable water, so they do not contract the disease.
