The Appointment

The Board of Directors of the College of Health Science and Technology, Deba, Gombe State, hereby invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and credible candidates for appointment to the positions of Provost, Registrar, Librarian and Bursar.

 

The Institution

The College of Health Sciences and Technology, Deba is a tertiary institution established to train competent and ethical health professionals, advance healthcare delivery, promote research, and contribute meaningfully to the community within Gombe state and Nigeria at large.

 

The Positions, Duties and Responsibilities

Provost

• The Provost is the Chief Officer and Principal Academic and Administrator of the College. The Provost shall be responsible for the overall day-to-day administration and management of the institution, subject to the general supervision, control and directives of the Governing Council. He represents the College at Official, Statutory and Professional engagement amongst others.

 

The Registrar

• The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer and Secretary to the Governing Council of the College. Also assist in overseeing accreditation, reaccreditation and quality assurance of academic programmes in line with regulatory standards. In addition, he is to foster and sustain cordial relationships with Government Agencies, Regulatory and Professional Bodies, Development Partners and the Host Community.

 

The Chief Librarian

• The Chief Librarian is in charge of the College Library. He is the custodian of the hard and virtual (e-library)

 

The HOD, Public Health

• The HOD will superintend the activities of the Department of Public Health

 

The Bursar

• The Bursar is responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions of the College.

 

Salary and Condition of Service

• The Salary Allowance, Tenure and other conditions of service shall be approved by the Board of Directors and in accordance with applicable regulations.

• All applications shall be submitted from Monday, 19th January- Friday, 13th February, 2026. Only shortlisted candidates shall be contacted.

 

Qualification

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

Possession of;

Provost

• A minimum of a Master's Degree in Health Sciences or a related discipline from a recognised institution (A Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage)
• A valid Practicing license with a relevant recognised professional regulatory body
• Attainment of the Rank of Chief lecturer or equivalent in a recognized tertiary institution;
• Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals;
• Demonstrated evidence of strong leadership capacity, integrity, vision and administrative competence;
• A Statement of vision for the College (not exceeding two pages)
• Must be a resident of Gombe State.

 

Experience

• A minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience in teaching, training, research and administration within a tertiary institution;
• Demonstrable experience in academic planning, personnel management, institutional governance and resource management.

 

Other Positions (Registrar, Librarian, HOD (Public Health) & Bursar)

• Relevant qualification and experience.
