EU, WHO Deliver 43 Healthcare, Other Projects to Borno Govt

The European Union (EU), in collaboration with World Health Organisation (WHO), has handed over 43 healthcare and other projects to Borno State government.

According to the 2021 Borno Package Coordination and Progress Report (BCPR) released in Maiduguri, yesterday, the EU-funded health projects are sited in Monguno, Bama, Gur, Chabbal and Biu in Borno South senatorial district.

“All the completed facilities, handed over to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for sustenance in the effective delivery of healthcare to the people, are providing services to communities affected by the 12-year insurgency,” the report added.

In another development, Niger State government has said that all unlicensed private tertiary health institutions will be closed down indefinitely.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abubakar Aliyu, in a chat with newsmen in Minna, yesterday, revealed that government was not comfortable with the proliferation of private tertiary health colleges and other institutions, pointing out that many of them were not adequately licensed.
