Edo Govt Urges Compliance with Guidelines As COVID-19 Deaths Rise To 63

Edo State has recorded four new cases and five more deaths from the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the number of deaths to 63. State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this during the daily virtual meeting of the State COVID-19 Task Force presided over by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Obi, who expressed concern over the rise in fatality rate, urged residents to complement government’s efforts by complying with all set guidelines to contain the infectious disease. He said the state also recorded 28 additional recoveries and 367 active cases being managed at various treatment and isolation centres in the state.

“Edo State recorded four new cases, five deaths and three more health workers infection in the last 24 hours. The four new cases were confirmed positive from the 328 samples collected within a 24-hour period.” “With the new figures, Edo has now recorded 1,915 confirmed cases, 1,485 recoveries, 63 deaths and 403 health workers infection,” he said.
