Executive Secretary (ES) vacancy at the West African Postgraduate College of Nurses and Midwives (WAPCNM)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified retired Fellows of the West African Postgraduate College of Nurses and Midwives (WAPCNM) to fill the vacant position of the Executive Secretary (ES) of the College.

Duty Station: Lagos, Nigeria.

Duration: Two years. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Executive Secretary is the Administrative Head of the College Secretariat and the Secretary of the Council. He/She shall be responsible for the day-to-day running and coordination of all College activities. Other responsibilities of the Executive Secretary are as outlined in the College constitution and as may be assigned by the President and the Council

REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate must possess the following 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must have PhD in Nursing from a recognized University and must be a Fellow of the West African Post-Graduate College of Nurses and Midwives in possession of the Fellowship Certificate of the College.   
  • Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria or any of the West African Countries’ Nursing and Midwifery Councils/Boards (Benin, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Cameroon).
  • Must have retired from active employment/service and with full financial commitment to college from 2018 to date, with at least five (5) years post-fellowship experience in the administration and management of health organization/institution at national/international level.
  • Possession and membership of management professional certificates: eg, Nigeria (Chartered) Institute of Management, British Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, etc.

OTHER PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Applicants must be a Man/Woman of integrity, accountable, diligent, responsive and responsible team builder, team leader with knowledge and skill of research grant writing, and managing diverse human and material resources for the college; Proficiency in computer, Excellent Advocacy, Marketing and Relationship Management Skill, ability to network and prospect with development partners such as WHO, UNFPA, JPHIEGO, UNICEF, UNESCO,  among others

REMUNERATION PACKAGE: Attractive and Negotiable

Please note that interested Fellows from the entire West African Region are entitled to apply, but he or she will be responsible for personal accommodation in Lagos, as the college does not have accommodation for staff.
