To contain maternal and child mortality in Nigeria, the Save A Life Foundation has launched a medical application in Rivers State.
Its President, Dr. Richard Okoye, said the solution would give weekly medical updates to pregnant women and nursing mothers regarding routine antenatal and immunisation for newborns.
Speaking at the weekend in Port Harcourt during the unveiling of Dr. SaveAlive APP, Okoye explained that the module was to make more people aware of and take responsibility for their health.
He said with the development, the life expectancy rate would increase by 2025, noting that the current 54 years threshold could leapfrog to 70 years.
The expert, whose foundation has a partnership with an Indian firm, pointed out that medical services have gone beyond caregiving and infrastructure to include health information as a viable means to reduce ignorance of healthy lifestyles.
