We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Instructor / Assistant / Associate / Full Professor, Public Health

Location: Adamawa

Employment Type: Full Time / Part time

Expected Starting Date: August 2023

Summary

  • The post holder will be required to instruct students in both introductory and advanced levels, including advanced courses related to his or her area of expertise.
  • The successful candidate will have at least a Masters Degree in Public Health or a related discipline and an established, or potential to establish, record of excellence in teaching, research, and service. Candidates with extensive field experience, and an MBBS is an added advantage for the instructor level.
  • Candidates should possess a strong record of academic publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with career stage. International experience is preferred.

Job Description

  • The candidate will teach Public Health courses at both introductory and advanced levels.
  • Conduct research and publish papers in rigorous peer-reviewed journals.
  • Promote the School's research and scholarly activities by presenting research findings in seminars and conferences.
  • Supervise student research projects.
  • Tutor and mentor students.
  • Lead or be part of university/school/departmental committees aimed at promoting research, curriculum development, staff welfare etc.
  • Contribute to AUN’s community service and development.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Person Specification (Required)

  • At least a Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Biostatistics, or a closely related discipline.
  • A Ph.D. is preferable.
  • Candidates with an MBBS, coupled with the Master's in Public Health are also welcome to apply for the Instructor rank.
  • Experience in American style of higher education.
  • An outstanding teaching and research record commensurate with career stage.
  • Experience in developing and delivering a problem centered approach to teaching and learning.
  • Record of publishing in relevant reputable journals and willingness to conduct research in Public Health.
  • Field and administrative experience in Public Health.
  • Experience of developing research proposals for externally funded project.
