Nurses and midwives at the General Hospital, Lagos, have stressed the need for the government to invest in the nursing profession.
The nurses said this would help to promote healthcare in the country.
Speaking on Tuesday in celebration of the International Nurses Week with the theme, ‘Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health,’ the apex nurse at the hospital, Mrs. Olabisi Oshodi-Bakare, stated, “The government needs to invest in the nursing profession in order to promote healthcare in the hospital, community and among the populace.
“This is the right time for the government to support the nursing profession.
“Nurses need to uphold the ethics of the profession and do their best to care for patients.”
