Federal University Otuoke was established in 2011 by an Act of Parliament of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to encourage the advancement of learning. It is in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The University caters for both Fulltime and Part time students with a population of over seventeen thousand (17,000) made up of undergraduate and postgraduate students. It has a staff strength of over two thousand (2,000).  

The Job

The Director of Health Services is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the organization and functioning of the Medical Centre of the University. He/She is also responsible for coordinating the treatment of members of staff and their families as well as the students of the University.  

QUALIFICATIONS  

Prospective candidates should possess M.B.BS., B.DS. or equivalent medical degree plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption. Candidates must have SSCE/NECO/WASSC/GCE O'Level credit in five (5) subjects including English Language and Mathematics. Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or its equivalent is compulsory. A higher degree will be an advantage. In addition, he/she must be duly registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years post qualification experience in clinical medicine and public health work in comparable health institution. Applicants must be ICT compliant. Candidates should not be older than Sixty (60) years on assumption of duty.  

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE  

The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Director, Health Services of Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the University Governing Council. Some of the conditions of service are stipulated in the Regulations Governing the Conditions of Service of Senior members of staff in the Federal University Otuoke.  

TENURE  

The successful candidate shall hold office for a period of five (5) years from the effective date of appointment with additional one (1) year subject to satisfactory performance as may be determined by appropriate University Laws and the Governing Council of the Federal University Otuoke.

  • Proposed date of availability for duties, if appointed,  
  • Names and addresses of three referees  
  • Publications (If any)
