Posted on: Tue 07-12-2021

The sad news of the murder of 7 year old Damilade Fadare, Daughter of Nurse Fadare came as a rude shock to Nurses in Ekiti State. The pain of loosing a beloved daughter under such barbaric circumstances cannot be quantified. It is heartbreaking that a young and promising child will be stabbed multiple times and put in a cooler by her next door neighbors.

The Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Ekiti State, Com. Fatomiluyi Kayode who together with Com. Fii Tornubari (State Secretary), Com. Timothy Akingbade (Unit chairman of NANNM Ikere Unit) and Com. Abimbola (Unit Secretary, Ikere) paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased consoled with the family over the loss and promised the support of the Association to ensure that the case is investigated and the culprits made to face the full weight of the law.

After the condolence visit, the NANNM Chairman and his team moved to the State Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) were it was confirmed that the parents of the principal suspect were in there custody.

Efforts to meet the IPO in charge of the case proved abortive as he was said to have left the State headquarters.

The NANNM State Secretary however contacted the Ekiti State Police PPRO, ASP Sunday Abutu who gave assurances that justice will be served. Mr. Abutu said the principal suspect was rescued from an angry mob and she is now in detention. The State PPRO added that the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police have moved the case to the State CID to ensure thorough investigation.

NANNM Ekiti State is calling on the Ekiti State government, Nigeria Police Force and all relevant law enforcement agencies, human right activists and all well meaning citizens of the state to rise up to ensure that justice is served. This case must not be swept under the carpet no matter who is involved.
