Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (Haematologist)

Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform routine and specialized haematology tests to support accurate diagnosis and patient care, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with laboratory standards while working collaboratively with clinical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized haematology tests, including blood counts, coagulation studies, and bone marrow examinations.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including calibration and quality control procedures.
  • Collect, process, and analyze blood samples according to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to discuss test results and provide diagnostic information.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of laboratory tests and results.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in haematology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) with a major in Haematology.
  • Current practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and technology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and laboratory practice.
