Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (Oncology Diagnostics)

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Summary

We are seeking to hire aMedical Laboratory Scientist with strong experience in oncology and molecular diagnostics. Skilled in performing advanced laboratory tests, ensuring quality compliance, and working in fast-paced, patient-focused laboratory environments.

Experienced in ISO 15189 standards and MLSCN regulations.

Job Description

Technical & Laboratory Duties:

  • Perform oncology molecular tests including PCR/qPCR, NGS workflows, DNA/RNA extraction, and tumor biomarker analysis
  • Support immunohistochemistry (IHC), cytology, and fluorescence-based assays
  • Process and accession samples while maintaining proper documentation and chain-of-custody
  • Ensure contamination control and follow unidirectional laboratory workflows
  • Analyze, interpret, and accurately document test results
  • Support method validation and performance evaluation activities

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with MLSCN guidelines and ISO 15189 standards
  • Participate in internal quality control (IQC), external quality assessment (EQA), and proficiency testing
  • Maintain equipment calibration, servicing, and troubleshooting records
  • Follow SOPs and maintain accurate laboratory documentation

Operational & Administrative Support:

  • Manage inventory of reagents and laboratory consumables
  • Participate in laboratory audits and inspections
  • Ensure biosafety and biosecurity standards are strictly followed
  • Train and mentor junior staff and interns
  • Handle data entry, reporting, and use of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)

Qualifications & Licensing

  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS)
  • 2–5 years’ experience in molecular diagnostics or oncology testing
  • Valid MLSCN practicing license
  • Certification in PCR, qPCR, or NGS is an added advantage
  • Experience working in an ISO 15189-accredited laboratory is preferred

Core Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of molecular biology and oncology diagnostics
  • Proficient in molecular diagnostic equipment and laboratory software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Salary

N400,000 per month.
