Seven-Up Bottling Company Limited is one of the largest manufacturing companies in Nigeria, producing and distributing some of the nation’s most- loved beverages in the country like; Pepsi, 7Up, Mirinda, Teem, Mountain Dew, H2oH!, Lipton Ice Tea and Aquafina premium drinking water. SBC has recently entered into Home & Personal Care category with the 2SURE brand and launched its first product, a Hand & Surface Sanitizer. Seven Up boasts of nine bottling plants with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities strategically located across various regions in the country.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Microbiologist (FMCG)

Location: Enugu

 

Position Overview

He/she will ensure Raw Materials & Finished Goods are free from microbiological hazard through result of analysis which is fully documented and fully aligned to the organization’s strategy, whilst ensuring that these are understood, and complied with to enable the organization exceed its statutory, and contractual obligations in managing food safety aspects across the diverse risk landscape.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure microbiological analysis of raw material and finished goods
  • Benchmark the result of analysis to relevant national and international standards
  • Form part of food safety team in preparing a flow diagram for each product or process category covered by the Food Safety Management System and verify the accuracy of those diagrams
  • Form part of food safety team that conduct hazard analysis
  • Perform equipment swab and conduct relevant analysis of environmental air
  • Evaluate suppliers’/vendors’ food safety systems; monitor and report on supplier food safety performance on microbiological hazards
  • Review all rejections by the Food Inspector
  • Review revisions to manufacturing practices, to ensure potential food safety hazards have been adequately addressed
  • Confirming the nonconformity and determine the disposition of nonconforming materials
  • Review on corrections and corrective actions taken at management review meetings and address all microbiological needs from the meeting
  • Analyze, and publish measurement data, to determine the root cause of process and product food safety problems and recommend action to resolve those problems.

Selection Criteria

  • A Bachelor Degree (B.Sc.) or HND in Microbiology
  • At least 5 years working experience in CSD industry
  • Ability to lead and manage change setting standards for managing performance.
  • Ability to build and leverage relationships to improve results
  • Open-minded and willing to experiment and try new things
  • Ability to disseminate and enforce safety, health & environment policy and improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience in ISO 22000;
  • Proven experience working in a Food safety role in manufacturing industry;
  • Recognized food safety qualification like lead auditor’s qualification in ISO 22000:2018.
