One month after UCTH Intern Nurses took to the streets and social media to demand their pending fees, nothing has changed.

You would recall that the CMD in response to the protest by the aggrieved intern nurses in June assured them that 'all schedules have been prepared and submitted, He added that the government was coming for verification of the interns', but one month after, the interns are yet to receive their wages

Our correspondent who spoke with one of the Nurse interns learnt that their condition has become unbearable as many of them are now literally begging to eat with so many of them borrowing to even get to work and meet up with other needs. According to him 'We have spoken with the management several times about our grievances, nothing was done till today, we plead for the payment of our salary arrears for about 9months.

Reacting to this deplorable news, Nurse Jude Chiedu of Nursingworld called on the Cross River state governor and the senate president to intervene and ameliorate the plight of these nurses and interns. This according to him ‘isn’t the best way to appreciate their sacrifices and hard work in the frontline of the fight against the Coronavirus since November 2020

Nurse Eteng Philip appealed for 'a coordinated effort to assist the interns to get their feet. He called for a fund raising to help support these ailing nurses and relieve their predicament for now.
