Description
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometrist to join our clinical team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing vision problems and eye diseases, prescribing corrective lenses, and providing professional guidance to patients on eye health and vision care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and eye health.
- Diagnose and manage visual disorders and common eye conditions.
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction solutions.
- Detect signs of eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration, and refer patients to ophthalmologists when necessary.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, preventive practices, and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames, lenses, and other optical products when needed.
- Ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards for optometric practice.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in clinic outreach programs, screenings, or vision awareness initiatives when required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom) from an accredited institution.
- Valid license to practice optometry in Nigeria.
- Minimum of 1 – 3 years of clinical experience (preferred but not mandatory for exceptional candidates).
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in primary eye care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient-centered approach with a strong commitment to quality care.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in using optometric diagnostic equipment.
