Osun State Government on Monday said it has arrested and handed over to the police a suspected quack masquerading as veterinary doctor going around duping residents in Osogbo.
A statement by Segilola Babalola, the Information Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture, also said the suspect (name withheld) had been administrating injections on pets around Osun State capital before he was apprehended.
The statement said when accosted, the suspect, residing around Old Governor’s Office, Osogbo, could not produce his Veterinary Council of Nigeria number.
The Director, Veterinary Services, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Abosede Olatokun, while speaking on the matter, then warned members of the public, most especially pet owners to be wary of quacks claiming to be veterinary doctors.
She further said, “We advice members of the public to desist from patronising fake veterinary doctors as doing so puts the life of their pets and other animals at risk. We also warn that any quack found guilty of claiming to be a doctor will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
