Job Title: Public Health Laboratory Technologist

Summary of Position
- The Public Health Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for managing its Public Health laboratory and Museum as may be requested by the Dean.
- The candidate shall contribute to keeping the Laboratory/museum safe, maintaining and managing its equipment for students use.
- S/he will work closely with the Dean and Chair of Public Health in guiding students through laboratory experience in line with the development philosophy of the American University of Nigeria.
Detailed Listing of Responsibilities
- Maintain safety of the Laboratory equipment
- Manage and maintain Laboratory inventory
- Control and Manage the use of Laboratory equipment by students, Faculty and Staff.
- Promote a good atmosphere, cleanliness and excellent laboratory environment for use.
- Lead and take visitors on a tour of the Public Health Laboratory and Museum.
- Maintain the safety of artworks/ exhibitions and other fragile Health pictorials, artefacts and health digital contents of the Laboratory/museum
- Be part of other committees aimed at promoting Laboratory development, staff welfare etc.
- Contribute to AUN’s community service and development.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Requirements for the position
- HND/BSc in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- Certification or licensure from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) or equivalent is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably with a focus on public health.
- Experience in academic or research-oriented laboratories is an asset.
Other requirements, abilities for the position:
- Experience in problem centered approach to learning.
- Experience in safety, managing people and Laboratory equipment.
- Good communication skills
- Good command of English Language.
- Experience in the use of basic computer skills like Microsoft office documents.
