The Katsina State Hospitals Services Management Board was first established by Kaduna State Government via edict No. 7 of 1978. The same edict was modified and adapted under CAP 63 of the laws of Katsina State of Nigeria. In 1993, the Board was merged with the State Ministry of Health through an Executive order. However, it was reactivated on 30th March, 1998 operate autonomously, with a Governing Board under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. The Board has under control all staff at the Headquarters, State Medical store, Government House Clinic, Psychiatric Hospital as well as all those working at the 18 General Hospital in the Katsina, Daura, Funtua, Malumdfashi, Mani, Kankia, Dutsinma, Batsari, Baure, Babbaruga, Rimi, Ingawa, Musawa, Kankara and Danmusa.

Job Description

  • The Radiographer is responsible for conducting high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures to support patient diagnosis and treatment within KTHSMB healthcare facilities.
  • The role involves operating imaging equipment such as X-ray, CT, and ultrasound machines, ensuring radiation safety standards, and maintaining accurate imaging records.
  • The officer will work closely with medical practitioners to deliver timely and precise imaging services while adhering to professional and ethical standards in patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound as required
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures ensuring comfort and safety
  • Operate and maintain radiographic equipment effectively
  • Ensure compliance with radiation protection and safety standards
  • Process and review imaging results for quality and accuracy
  • Maintain accurate patient imaging records and documentation
  • Collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals on diagnosis and treatment
  • Monitor and report equipment faults and coordinate maintenance
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of imaging data and films
  • Provide guidance to patients on procedures and post-imaging care

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging
  • NYSC Discharged/Exemption Certificate
  • Valid professional license/practice registration
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic imaging techniques
  • Good patient care and communication skills
  • Relevant experience.
