The meeting of the Medical Guild Representative council was held on Sunday 21st of June, 2020 to deliberate on burning issues affecting our members.

The Chairman, Dr Oluwajimi Sodipo, gave an overview of the activities and engagements of the officers committee (Exco) with the relevant agencies and individuals of the Lagos State Government which centered on four (4) major demands:

1. Lagos State COVID 19 response issues that affect our members with non inclusion of the Guild in the activities by the government which includes the followings:

i. Allowances for those in isolation centres.

ii. Prompt testing of HCWs and Patients in the hospitals/health centres

iii. Availability of PPEs

iv. Protocols on the COVID 19 response in the hospitals/health centres.

2. Minimum wage disparity / FG's MOU with healthcare workers national association s/unions.

3. Shortage of Doctors in the State.

4. Non implementation of the Medical Residency Training Act in the state residency training hospitals

Despite having several meetings in the last two weeks with the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, Honorable Commissioner for Health, and Permanent Secretaries of Health, HSC, PHCB, Estab. and Public Service Office, the Representative Council felt the government has not demonstrated enough commitment towards the issues raised and as such made the following resolutions.

OUR RESOLUTIONS

1. That the government be reminded of our 21 days ultimatum which expires on Friday 26th June 2020.

2. That if the situation still remains the same, our members are to embark on a 3 days warning strike effectively 8am on Monday, 29th June 2020.

3. That all avenues for dialogue should still be explored by the officers committee of the Guild before Monday 29th June 2020.

4. That a Congress be convened on Saturday 27th June, 2020 to ratify the resolution of the Medical Guild
