Job Summary
- The Sonographer is responsible for operating ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images of internaorgans, tissues, and blood flow.
- This role requires a blend of technical expertise, patient care, and collaboration with medical professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and optimapatient outcomes.
Main Duties
- Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Operate ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images of organs, tissues, and blood flow.
- Adjust equipment settings and patient positioning to optimize image quality.
- Analyze images for quality and preliminary findings, reporting to radiologists or physicians.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and image archiving according to institutional and legalrelquirements.
- Assist physicians during interventionaultrasound procedures as required.
- Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of ultrasound equipment.
- Comply with infection control, radiation safety, and professional ethical standards.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training programs.
- Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients throughout the procedure.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent.
- Professional certification/licensure (e.g., ARDMS, NIMLS or local equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience in diagnostic sonography or related field.
- Ability to stand for long periods and assist patients physically.
- In-depth knowledge of ultrasound physics and anatomy.
- Proficiency in operating ultrasound machines and interpreting images.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail.
- Compassionate attitude towards patients.
- Willingness to work shifts and on-calhours as required.
- Commitment to continuous learning.
Salary
N200,000 - N250,000 Monthly.
