West African College of Nursing Nigeria chapter Holds Virtual 2020 AGM and Scientific Session

The Nigerian Chapter of the West African College of Nursing is currently holding its 20th AGM and Scientific Session with an apt theme 'Environmental Hazards, A Challenge to Health in the West African Sub Region'

The meeting which held via zoom had a record-breaking attendance of over 130 participants and was graced by dignitaries such as the deputy governor of Rivers state Dr Mrs Ipalibo Harry-banigo (DSSRS) ably represented by Ms Ibiobeleari Sokari Director of Nursing services Rivers state, Dr Saleh Garba chairman West African College of Nursing Nigeria Chapter, Mrs Bernice Olusola Aketi the first vice president WACN amidst other dignitaries

The keynote address on the theme of the AGM was delivered by Prof Mrs Grace Robinson Bassey while Mrs Christiana Umo-otoung the South South zonal chairman WACN delivered the welcome address.

In living up to its mission statement of providing postgraduate nursing and midwifery education and disseminating technical health information towards the attainment of the highest possible standards, a plenary session was organized including delivery of international standard scientific papers by well renowned nursing scholars such as Dr Margaret Akpan, Dr A Manuel, Dr Mrs Comfort Ekanem, Dr Buloala Lilly West amongst many too numerous to mention

The virtual opening ceremony was excellently moderated by Prof Patience Samson Akpan, Prof Fatai Badru and Professor Olaide Edet. The meeting is scheduled to hold from 8th to 10th December 2020, culminating in the WACN AGM, faculty meeting, report presentation, election of zonal, chapter and sub regional WACN officials and finally a brief on the 2021 BGM
