Ado Mohammed, NPHCDA Boss, wins 2013 Public Administrator Award

The Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, Dr. Ado Muhammad, has emerged winner of the Public Administrator of the Year Award, PAYA, organized by the Centre for Policy Development and Political Studies, Lagos.
 
The centre, which announced the winner yesterday, said of the 10 nominees for the award, Mohammed scored 3,025 votes, which it acknowledged were more than 50 percent of the total valid votes cast.
 
Among other things, the organizer praised and acknowledged Nigeria’s progress towards eradication of poliomyelitis; reduction in maternal and infant mortality; impressive initiatives in addressing human resource challenge in the primary health care, PHC, sub-sector; integration and decentralization of HIV/AIDs intervention in PHC services in over 1,500 PHC facilities; transparency in public procurement and community ownership of PHC interventions under Dr. Mohammed’s leadership. I
 
In his reaction, made available in a statement signed by the agency’s Public Relations Officers, Mr. Sa’adu Salahu, Dr Mohammed expressed profound appreciation to the organizer of the Award for its interest in “promoting patriotism, selflessness, good governance, democratic culture, transparency, accountability and excellence in the Nation’s Public Service.”
 
He described the award as “very encouraging”, stressing that it would spur him, his colleagues at NPHCDA, development partners and all PHC stakeholders to do more in ensuring effective and efficient primary health care services to all Nigerians.
