Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Regional Workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Health Programs

Posted on: Fri 06-03-2015

Policymakers, program staff and researchers face many questions related to the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of public health programs in developing countries. M&E skills provide answers to these questions and are crucial to the successful design, implementation, tracking and impact of public health programs. In order to strengthen the M&E skills of health professionals that are engaged in the public health sector, this two-week short course provides training in the design and implementation of M&E systems and the application of M&E in health programming.

What distinguishes this M&E course from others is that participants are taught by experts from Ahmadu Bello University, MEASURE Evaluation and relevant national disease control programs. Participants also work in small groups throughout the workshop to design M&E plans which they will present as final deliverables on the last day of the workshop. Participation in these activities contributes to strengthening their M&E skills and professional network, opening new opportunities in their careers. From 2011 to date, this program has trained over one hundred M&E professionals.nbsp;
