Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH), Irrua, Edo State - Applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested candidates for appointment as Chief Medical Director of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH), Irrua, Edo State. ISTH is a 20 years old Federal Teaching Hospital with a 375-bed capacity offering diverse and specialized services in various aspects of healthcare. 

The Hospital is a centre of excellence for the control and treatment of Lassa fever and other viral hemorrhagic fevers.

Position: Chief Medical Director

Location;  Edo State

Job Description
The Chief Medical Director is the Chief Accounting Officer of the Hospital and is charged with the responsibility of executing policies and matters affecting the day-to-day management of the Hospital under the general control of the Board of Management. (Cap 463 of Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1990)

Qualifications and Requirements: 

The Candidate must:
Have considerable experience in administration of health matters and Show evidence of high-level managerial capacity in the administration of a tertiary medical institution:
Be a Medical Doctor who is registered with the Medical and Dental council of Nigerian (MDCN) for at least twelve (12) years;
Hold a post graduate medical qualification, registerable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) for the purpose of practicing as a Consultant, from a recognized body obtained not less than five years prior to the date of this advertisement;
Have a professional and academic standing of sufficiently high reputation at national and international levels to enhance the reputation of the Hospital and be able to attract local and international support to supplement Government subvention in upgrading and strengthening the activities of the Hospital;
Be less than 56 years of age from the date of this advertisement;
Have the ability to provide strategic leadership and direction for the Hospital, harness available resources for the achievement of the Hospital’s goals and drive the staff for the achievement of corporate goals: and
Demonstrate strong leadership qualities in clinical duties, research and teaching.
In addition, formal training in administration and proficiency in information and communication technology (ICT) would be advantageous. Furthermore, the Candidate should he courageous in taking independent decision based on merit, have commitment to anti-corruption, due process and SERVICOM and of impeccable character with proven qualities of dynamic leadership.

Tenure of Office
The appointment is for four (4) years in the first instance and renewable, subject to satisfactory performance, for another four (4) years. 

Remuneration and Conditions
The salary is consolidated and the successful appointee shall enjoy the benefits and conditions of service as applicable to Chief Executives of Federal parastatals and as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
